Try Runescape, its free and doesn't require a download. You can just go on there and talk to people, or do quests and kill stuff for fun.
Well if your looking for a real online game, there are 2 I play, Conquer Online, and Fiesta, both require downloads.



If you mean like browser games (The stuff you play in the internet window) I have played different versions of super smash bros, such as sonic smash bros and super smash flash. If your not sonic there are sonic games online made by fans, some are pretty good, as well as some mario games.



If you did mean browser games but nothing I said interested you you could just get Visual Boy Advance and download roms for games you like, there are other emulators if you'd rather play DS games or gamecube games on your computer instead.

Maple story sounds like the kind of game you would like. It's a platformer like super mario, but also a MMORPG and can be very challening.
